Young Chinese – Developing Reading Skills, Level 2, is a beginner course for learners aged 6-8 from a Chinese background (Grades 1 & 2) who have some rudimentary knowledge of Chinese. It combines online learning and off-line learning with print materials. The course, developed in accordance of the requirements of the YCT2 and the HSK1 administered the Confucius Institute (Hanban), emphasizes character learning and reading comprehension. By studying and memorizing simple poems and short narrative texts, course participants develop their reading ability and a feel for the cadence of Chinese.
